Rüdiger looks ahead to Bayern clash

Speaking to Sky Germany, Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger gave his thoughts on his side's Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid and Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger had his say regarding the upcoming Champions League semi-final featuring Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Rüdiger was in the headlines just over a week ago, netting the winning penalty to overcome Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, setting his side up for two legs against Bayern Munich.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Rüdiger highlighted the size of the tie.

“Two very big teams. It's a game in equal footing, I think there's no favourite. Both teams are in good form right now and it's going to be an interesting game."

The defender has a previous history with Bayern in the Champions League, outlining the fact that “Last time didn't go well for me”, referring to Bayern's 7-1 aggregate triumph during the club's treble-winning campaign under Hansi Flick.

When considering the qualities of Bayern, Rüdiger spoke out regarding three names in particular.

“Harry Kane of course, but they also have other qualities. Musiala, Leroy Sane, I hope Leroy will be 100% because I heard he had problems. I hope he's fit because you want to play against the best.”

Rüdiger made 66 appearances for VfB Stuttgart before his permanent Bundesliga departure in 2016. The 31-year-old now makes his return to Germany as one of Europe's most highly regarded defenders.

Bayern host Real Madrid at Allianz Arena next week (30th April) in the first leg of a highly anticipated Champions League semi-final tie.
