Tuchel still sees the Premier League as the strongest league in the world

Despite English teams' recent struggles in Europe, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel still believes the English Premier League is the best league in the world.

While Bundesliga teams are doing well in both the Champions League and Europa League, things haven't gone according to plan for the English Premier League matches on the European stage this season.

Arsenal and Manchester City were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively, meaning there are no English teams in the last four.

At that point, Borussia Dortmund had already qualified for the semifinals after eliminating Atletico Madrid.

Later, Bayer Leverkusen overcame West Ham in the Europa League to ensure that Germany will have three semi-finalists in Europe for the first time in 29 years.

But despite recent disappointing results from an English perspective, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel still sees the Premier League as the world's greatest league.

"It is still the strongest league, it always has been. It can happen, these are knockout competitions. You also need a bit of luck of the draw and luck of the draw from the quarter-finals onwards," Tuchel told Sky Germany.

“Not to take anything away from Dortmund, us and Leverkusen, we all deserve to go through. But from the quarter-finals onwards, a red card, a small decision can influence the results.”
