Report: Guido Burgstaller left out of Schalke's squad to face Bayern

Schalke 04 coach David Wagner has reportedly decided not to include Guido Burgstaller in his squad for Friday's Bundesliga opener.

Guido Burgstaller will not be part of the Schalke 04's squad for Friday's Bundesliga opener against Bayern München at Allianz Arena, according to Sport1.

Burgstaller has become surplus to requirements following the arrivals of Goncalo Paciencia (Frankfurt, loan) and Vedad Ibisevic (Hertha BSC, free transfer).

The 31-year-old has reportedly been told that he's no longer in the plans of Schalke coach David Wagner and that he's free to find a new club before the transfer window closes.

Instead of being with the first-team squad in Munich, Burgstaller will apparently join up with the U23's for their game against Rödinghausen tomorrow.

The Austrian forward failed to score in 21 Bundesliga games last season.
