The perfect goodbye? Javi Martinez scores extra-time winner as Bayern win the Super Cup

Javi Martinez helped Bayern München to a 2-1 victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup final as he came on to score an extra-time winner in what could be his last appearance for the German champions.
German treble-winners Bayern München beat Sevilla 2-1 after extra time to win the UEFA Super Cup in front of around 20,000 fans at Puskás Aréna in Budapest.

Javi Martinez, who is said to be on the verge of a move to his former club Athletic Club, scored the winning goal after coming on as a substitute in extra time.

It didn't start according to plan for Bayern, who fell behind in the 13th minute, when Lucas Ocampos scored from the penalty spot.

But after creating a series of chances, Bayern found the equaliser midway through the first half as Robert Lewandowski set up Leon Goretzka.

Lewandowski got on the scoresheet himself in the beginning of the second half, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.

Sevilla nearly grabbed a late goal with a few minutes left of regular time as Youssef En Nesyri found himself through on goal after a mistake from David Alaba, but Manuel Neuer did well to deny the striker.

The game went into extra time, and after coming on in the 99th minute, Javi Martinez headed in the winner five minutes later in what could very well be his last game for Bayern.
