Fantasy Bundesliga: Matchday 19 review
With the conclusion of Matchday 19, we will be taking a closer look at selected performances and trends in detail as well as what to to look out for before the next matchday in this recap.
Silva a must have
In the striker department, Andre Silva (18.3M, 17) stakes a claim for a permanent spot in fantasy teams after scoring a brace over Hertha Berlin.

Silva’s spot in the starting lineup was previously uncertain due to ambiguous comments by Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter, but looks unbenchable at the moment, especially with Luka Jovic still struggling for fitness. Silva seems to be in red hot form at the moment after scoring more than 10 points for the past 5 games and it could be a case of better late than never for those without him yet.
Dortmund and Leipzig on course for a good run
Borussia Dortmund dispatched Augsburg in a comfortable 3-1 win despite main man Erling Haaland (19.4M, 4) missing an early penalty. While Haaland’s streaky form (18, 2, 4, 15, 4) and Dortmund’s poor defending is worrying, Jadon Sancho (20.1M, 16) has been showing that he is a must have that justifies his price with consistent performances in the new year. Fellow midfielders Gio Reyna (8.8M, 4) and Julian Brandt (15.3M, 8) did not score as well as Sancho but are alternatives as Dortmund looks set for a good run with favorable fixtures ahead of Freiburg(A), Hoffenheim(H), Schalke(A). Marco Reus, FWD (17.7M, 12) could also be an interesting differential pick with his set piece duties.
Similarly, RB Leipzig had a huge win over Bayer Leverkusen in Saturday’s Topspiel, with double the number of shots as their opponent which reflected in player hauls, with attacking midfielders Christopher Nkunku (14.8M, 18) and Dani Olmo (16.4M, 14) standing out. With favorable upcoming fixtures of Schalke(H), Augsburg(A), Hertha(H), it would seem wise to own at least one of the two in addition to Angelino for potential hauls.
Wamangituka or González?
After scoring yet another goal in the 2-0 win over Mainz, Silas Wamangituka (9.3M, 10) has now scored in each of his last 4 starts for Stuttgart, and is usually on penalty duty.
Meanwhile, Nicolás González (10M, 10) has only scored 2 in the four games but has double the points of Silas on goal attempts (20 vs 10), and scored the same points as Silas despite not scoring or assisting this week. This could signify that González might still be the better pick due to his position higher up the pitch which provides more chances on goal.
Shocks of the matchday
Marius Wolf, MID (4.4M, 20) was one of the top scoring players of the matchday with a brace over relegation contenders Armenia Bielfeld, and looks a viable differential with FC Koln having two standalone fixtures coming up.
Lars Stindl, MID (15.1M, 3) was benched for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, and could be one to get out.
None of the Bayer Leverkusen assets scored more than 10 points for the second week in a row after another 1-0 loss, and they host Stuttgart at home next matchday.
