Moukoko doubtful for Germany's next U21 fixture against Holland

By Peter Weis   @PeterVicey

Youssoufa Moukoko remained absent from the German U21's final training session on Friday.

Hopes that Germany's "Wunderkind" may make his national team debut during this break, accordingly, fade.

Youssoufa Moukoko wasn't able to make head-coach Stefan Kuntz's bench squad during Wednesday's 3-0 win over Hungary. The sixteen-year-old Dortmund prodigy had to withdraw with an unspecified contusion.

Given that Moukoko hasn't participated in team training since, it appears unlikely that he will be deemed fit enough to play in tomorrow's second U21 European Championship group stage match against the Netherlands.

"I have little hope [that he will feature]," Kuntz told reporters on Friday, "I would estimate the probability of a deployment at 7.5 percent."

Kuntz's oddly specific prognostication does not apply to striker Jonathan Burkhardt of FSV Mainz 05. Though the 20-year-old was also absent from the Friday team training session, Kuntz reported that he had completed solo sessions at the team hotel and might be available tomorrow night.

"With Burkhardt it looks a little better than Moukoko," Kuntz noted, "Tomorrow morning it will be determined if he's eligible for the starting XI  or if only a shorter deployment is feasible."

Kuntz also took the opportunity to commit to keeper Finn Dahmen once again and indicated to reporters that he didn't wish to rotate heavily.

Moukoko sgtill has time to heal before the final group stage game against Romania on Tuesday, March 30th.
