Niko Kovac closing in on new Borussia Dortmund contract

After guiding Borussia Dortmund to consecutive Champions League qualifications, Niko Kovac has led the Black and Yellows to the top of the Bundesliga four games into the new season.
In light of these achievements, it's hardly a surprise that the club’s hierarchy would like to tie down the head coach beyond his current contract, which expires in 2027.
According to Sport Bild, talks over an extension could quickly lead to an agreement, with the 54-year-old expected to sign a new contract in October.
First, however, the club wants to sort out contract extensions for managing directors Carsten Cramer, Lars Ricken and Thomas Treß.
Kovac took over as Dortmund coach towards the end of January 2025.
