After sacking Gerardo Seoane as head coach, Borussia Mönchengladbach have put U23 coach Eugen Polanski in charge on an interim basis.

It's been reported that Die Fohlen are considering giving Polanski the job permanently after he guided the team to a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in his first game in charge.

However, another candidate has now reportedly thrown his hat into the ring.

According to Sport Bild, Raúl González has expressed his interest in the role via his agent, Ginés Carvajal.

The former Real Madrid and Schalke 04 striker has been unemployed since June, when his six-year stint coaching Real Madrid’s second team came to an end.

It is unclear how Gladbach responded to the contact, but Sport Bild reports that the club has not yet held talks with any external coaching candidates.

Update (13:17 CET): Raul's representatives have denied that they have offered their client to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
