Bayern Munich have ultimately lost out in the race to sign Manchester United's JJ Gabriel, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.

The British journalist reports that the La Liga giants have definitively won the race for the 16-year-old's signature, with the move set to be completed in January.

Bayern were also showing strong interest in the youngster, but have now seemingly been left empty-handed, alongside Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Gabriel has never played a competitive match for Manchester United's first team, but has attracted considerable interest with his impressive performances at youth level.
