Borussia Dortmund have been boosted by the return to full training of vice-captain Nico Schlotterbeck and captain Emre Can.

As confirmed by BVB, both players took part in the team’s final training session on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League return-leg clash with Atalanta.

This does not guarantee that they will play in Bergamo, though, with Dortmund adding that a decision on their availability will be made at short notice.

Both players have recently spent time on the sidelines – Can due to a groin injury, and Schlotterbeck due to muscular problems.

Their returns come at perfect timing for BVB ahead of their crucial games against Atalanta on Wednesday and Bayern Munich on Saturday.

The Black and Yellows take a 2-0 lead into Wednesday's game in Italy.
