Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry expressed satisfaction with his side’s 2-1 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win over Real Madrid, while also acknowledging a bit of frustration at conceding after going two goals up.

“We’ll definitely take the win with us. We came here to win. At the end of the day, we even had more chances that we should have scored. Maybe then we could have killed the game. But they also had chances – you have to admit that,” said Gnabry, who set up Luis Diaz’s opener, in quotes published on FC Bayern’s website.

“Still, we take the win and go into the second leg with confidence. We have to approach the home game with full conviction. We deserved the win today, and we take that with us. In the return leg, we have to try to give just a little bit more.”

Bayern now turn their focus to their Bundesliga game against St. Pauli at the weekend before next week’s second leg against Real Madrid.
