Hertha boss comments on Kovac speculation

Hertha boss Michael Preetz won't rule out Niko Kovac as a candidate for the job as the club's coach.
Hertha BSC sporting director Michael Preetz has spoken highly of Niko Kovac amid speculation that the 48-year-old is seen as the preferred candidate to take over the position as the club's coach in the summer.

Alexander Nouri has been appointed coach on an interim basis following Jürgen Klinsmann's decision to step down from the position.

Kovac is understood to be unavailable at this point, but he could be an option for the job at the end of the season.

"Everyone knows that Niko was born in Berlin and played for Hertha," Preetz said in an interview with Sky and continued:

"He has done a great job in the Bundesliga in the last three and a half years, first at Eintracht Frankfurt and later at Bayern München."

However, Preetz is well aware that Kovac will receive "plenty of offers from both German and international clubs."

Bruno Labbadia has also been linked with the position as Hertha coach.
