Tuchel praises Dier: "He has exceeded all expectations"
Since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham in January, Eric Dier has impressively secured a starting berth in the heart of the defense despite fierce competition from Matthijs de Ligt, Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for the 30-year-old, saying he has performed well beyond expectations.
“I am very happy with him. He's exceeded all expectations,” Tuchel told reporters.
"He's an extremely important piece of the puzzle. He's organized, he's vocal, we didn't have that much.
“He helps the guy next to him, he's a top character and a very good player. He's being rewarded for his work at the moment.”
Dier has started 10 of Bayern's last 11 games in all competitions.
