After suffering relegation to the 2. Bundesliga with FC St. Pauli and seeing his contract expire at the end of last season, Karol Mets is set to remain in Germany after agreeing a move to VfL Bochum.

Reports emerged earlier this week that new Bochum head coach Uwe Rösler had identified the 33-year-old as a defensive target. Now, journalist Christopher Michel reports that the deal is all but complete, with the contract expected to be signed in the coming days.

Mets is set to arrive on a free transfer after spending the past four years at St. Pauli, where he established himself as a dependable presence at the heart of the defence. His arrival would provide Bochum with valuable experience as the Ruhr club looks to mount a push for promotion back to the Bundesliga.
