France’s World Cup clash with Iraq, played on Monday evening local time, has been suspended until further notice due to adverse weather conditions.

After a first half that saw France lead 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kylian Mbappé, the match in Philadelphia was interrupted by severe weather in the area.

The start of the second half has been delayed by at least 15 minutes due to the conditions, and it's still unclear when the rest of the game will be played.

Heavy rain began after around 35 minutes, with fans taking shelter as authorities issued a thunderstorm warning, and an update on resumption is still awaited.

Bayern Munich duo Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise both started for France, with the latter providing the assist for Mbappé’s opening goal.
