Kicker Report: Mainz hope to acquire striker Sieb after Bayern buyback

Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that FSV Mainz 05 are positioning themselves to acquire surging young German striker Armindo Sieb.

Following his 17-scorer-point haul at German second division side SpVgg Greuther Fürth, it has long been rumored that German giants FC Bayern München plan to exercise a €1.5 million buyback option on Germany U21 striker Armindo Sieb. The record champs then wish to loan the 21-year-old out to another club for the coming season. German journalist Benni Hofmann of Kicker Magazine reports that FSV Mainz 05 wish to maneuver themselves into position.

Mainz appear poised to lose Sieb's fellow flourishing teammate Brajan Gruda and, according to Hofmann, are very enticed by the possibility of bringing Sieb in as a replacement. Hofmann notes that the FSV sporting management duo of Christian Heidel and Martin Schmidt have initiated contact with Bayern. Sieb's next destination may nevertheless not be confirmed for a while as Hofmann notes Bayern have through July to pull the buyback option.
