Köhn reflects on "storybook" Bundesliga debut, looks ahead to meeting with former club Bayern

New SV Werder Bremen signing Derrick Köhn was full of elation after scoring a game-winning goal 125 seconds into his Bundesliga debut yesterday.

The 25-year-old may have something further to add against his former club Bayern in next weekend's league fixture.

When SV Werder Bremen brought in former FC Bayern München academy man Derrick Köhn at the end of the transfer window, it was clear that the once highly-regarded mega prospect would have to fight for a starting place at his first top flight club. Köhn's fellow former German youth international Felix Agu worked exceptionally hard during training camp to nail down the starting left-wingback slot in head-coach Ole Werner's 3-5-2.

Despite the stiff nature of the competition, Köhn greatly abetted his cause with what would prove the game-winning goal against Mainz on Sunday. The 25-year-old notched the 2-1 only 15 seconds into his Bundesliga debut. Köhn could only reflect on how perfectly everything unravelled when conducting his post-match interview with German broadcaster DAZN.

"To score in my Bundesliga debut feels very, very good," Köhn told his interviewer, "I'm experiencing intense happiness. To debut like that is like something out of a storybook."

"I'm simply happy for the team," Köhn went on to say, "And I hope it continues like this. Next week [at home against former club Bayern] is a huge match for us. We want to put in a good performance and are looking forward to it."
