Leverkusen fear Terrier has suffered serious hand injury

Bayer 04 Leverkusen head-coach Xabi Alonso revealed that his club's medical department are currently very concerned for Martin Terrier after the Frenchman incurred a fresh injury in Saturday's league win

Subbed on in the 77th minute of Saturday's 5-2 win over 1. FC Heidenheim, French striker Martin Terrier remained on the sidelines during the final minutes of the match. The 27-year-old had only just returned from a thigh injury incurred one month ago. His brief relief shift was marred by what appeared to be a bad injury to his hand.

"We have to wait for tests on Martin," Leverkusen trainer Xabi Alonso revealed afterwards, "At the moment, it's not looking so good. It's his hand."

The defending Bundesliga champions have already to contend with their fair share of injuries in attack. After losing Amine Adli last month, this week also saw confirmation that Victor Boniface and Jonas Hofmann will be unavailable for the duration of the calendar year. A broken hand or fractured forearm could sideline Terrier until 2025.
