Ginter speaks on transfer rumors: "Today wasn't my last game."

After Hoffenheim snatched a draw late, both Gladbach trainer Adi Hütter and Matthias Ginter wished to focus on the positives associated with snapping the team's losing streak.

In the case of the German national team defender, there were also questions about a potential transfer.

A late draw, courtesy of an injury time equalizer, might not have been what sliding Borussia Mönchengladbach hoped for from a Saturday trip to Sinsheim. The result nevertheless did mean that Adi Hütter's foals snapped their four-game losing streak as the Bundesliga heads into its winter break.

"We would have liked to win, but Hoffenheim deserved the equalizer," Hütter told the Sky microphones afterwards, "It was a small step forward. In our case, it was important that we break the losing streak."

BMG and German national team defender Matthias Ginter agreed. The 27-year-old labelled the performance, "definitely better than those in recent weeks" and praised his colleagues at the back for "defending til the last man".

Naturally, when it comes to Ginter, there would also be questions about his expiring contract. Like many Gladbach player sitting on expiring contracts that sporting director Max Eberl has admitted can't be offered suitable extensions, Ginter has had to answer such questions since before the season began.

Eberl has always been candid about the financial strain the COVID pandemic placed the club under. It very much stands to reason that there will be players cashed in on and shipped out during the January window.

For Ginter's part, he seemed to indicate that he was willing to give the club another month to tender something suitable. The links with larger clubs persist.

"I hope that we're a few steps further in a few weeks," Ginter said on Saturday, "Even if a winter transfer can't be ruled out completely, I firmly believe that today wasn't my last game."
