FC Köln beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 in the Bundesliga at the RheinEnergieStadion on Saturday evening thanks to a late Anthony Modeste goal.

Having recently recovered from COVID-19, the prolific French striker started on the bench and was sent on the pitch after around an hour.

With 84 minutes on the clock, Modeste suddenly found himself one-on-one with Kevin Trapp after latching on to a pass from Ellyes Skhiri, and he coolly slotted the ball under the Frankfurt goalkeeper to earn Köln the win with his 15th league goal of the season.

The result means Köln are propelled into sixth position in the Bundesliga while Frankfurt sit 10th.

In today's earlier games, Arminia Bielefeld beat Union Berlin 1-0, Freiburg saw off Augsburg 1-2, Hoffenheim came back to earn a 1-2 win over Wolfsburg while Stuttgart and Bochum drew 1-1 after the latter scored a late equaliser.
