According to Germany's pre-eminent footballing publication, it will cost newly promoted side FC Schalke 04 €3 million should they wish to retain the services of North Macedonian winger Darko Churlinov.

Loaned to the Königsblauen without a purchase clause, 21-year-old North Macedonian winger Darko Churlinov is due back in Stuttgart at the end of the month. Should newly promoted FC Schalke 04 (as has been reported) wish to keep the young attacker. the Westphalian club will have to dig deep into its cash reserves.

German footballing magazine Kicker reports that Churlinov's Swabian parent club desires €3 million in compensation for an outright purchase. This may prove problematic as S04 sporting director Rouven Schröder is already trying to buy loanees Ko Itakura and Dong-gyeong Lee.

There are also reports that Schröder aims to invest €1 million in a new left-back.

Churlinov scored two league goals and provided a further seven assists for die Knappen during their promotion campaign. VfB Stuttgart, who barely managed to remain in the Bundesliga this year, may not be so keen to let an offensive talent leave their roster.

Schalke have also already made an investment in a player from a top tier roster, paying a reported €1.5 million to make Rodrigo Zalazar's loan deal from Frankfurt permanent back in late March.
