Erling Haaland drew first blood from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute and made it 2-0 and 3-0 before the break to complete a rapid hat-trick.
Ilkay Gündogan extended the lead to 4-0 early in the second half before Haaland scored two more goals in quick succession to take his tally to five in 57 minutes.
City weren't done yet, though, as Kevin De Bruyne curled the ball into the top corner in stoppage time for the final goal of the night.
