Four recent relief appearances activate Philipp's purchase clause, Kicker claims

Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that four recent relief appearances for SC Freiburg in the new calendar year have led to the automatic activation of Maximilian Philipp's purchase clause.
The obligatory purchase clause in Maximilian Philipp's loan arrangement has - according to Germany's Kicker Magazine - been activated via four short relief appearances in the new calendar year. The German attacker will thus re-join current Bundesliga club SC Freiburg from parent club VfL Wolfsburg permanently. Philipp has now made 10 league appearances (13 across all competitions) for Freiburg this season.

Philipp got off to an excellent start representing his former youth academy side this year before a serious injury left him sidelined for the final two months of 2023. After missing 12 competitive fixtures, Philipp has been slowly working his way back. He's logged 35 minutes off the bench in his four substitute appearances in 2024. One assumes that struggling Freiburg will be happy to turn to him for the XI once he returns to full fitness.
