Wolfsburg confirm major injury setback for Bialek

VfL Wolfsburg confirmed that 22-year-old Polish striker Bartosz Bialek has suffered a serious ACL tear that will sideline him indefinitely.

Recently returned from his second loan-out in as many years, VfL Wolfsburg striker Bartosz Bialek has regrettably suffered the third ACL tear of his young career. Germany's green company team confirmed the news of a "serious knee injury". The local Wolfsberger Allgemeine Zeitung reports that, after rupturing a cruciate ligament in 2021 and 2023, the 22-year-old has again incurred a debilitating injury.

Wolfsburg once signed Bialek for €5 million from Zagłębie Lubin in the summer of 2020. The ten-times-capped Polish youth international did score two Bundesliga goals whilst making 19 top flight appearances for the Oliver Glasner side that qualified for the Champions' League during the 2020/21 campaign. Amid all of the injury problems, his estimated market worth has declined to €1 million over the last four years.

“We are very sorry that Bartosz has to accept another setback," VfL managing director for sport Peter Christiansen noted in a club statement, "We will support him fully in the coming weeks and months during his recovery process and are keeping our fingers crossed that he comes through this difficult phase as well as possible."
