Alphonso Davies hopes to return from injury for the first leg of FC Bayern Munich's Champions League round of 16 clash with Atalanta on Tuesday.

The Canada international suffered an injury against Eintracht Frankfurt around two weeks ago, but made a significant step forward in his recovery on Friday as he resumed parts of team training.

While Friday's Bundesliga clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach comes too soon, Davies is optimistic about featuring against Atalanta.

"It’s tough. You want to play every game. Overall, I’m happy to be back. Obviously, I had a small setback. But I think I can play against Atalanta," he said during an event on Thursday evening, according to AZ.

Davies missed the first months of the season with a cruciate ligament tear before returning in December. So far this season, he has made 12 appearances for Bayern.
