Bayern and Stuttgart to kick off the 2026/27 Bundesliga season

Ahead of the release of the full 2026/27 Bundesliga schedule, the German Football League has revealed a handful of key fixtures and dates.
Reigning champions Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart will open the season on Friday 28 August at the Allianz Arena in a repeat of the 2025/26 DFB-Pokal final. Stuttgart will be seeking revenge after Bayern won that game 3-0 in Berlin thanks to a Harry Kane hat-trick.
Meanwhile, newly-promoted SV Elversberg will begin their first-ever Bundesliga campaign at home against 2022/23 champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The dates for the Revierderby matches between FC Schalke 04, who are back in the Bundesliga, and Borussia Dortmund have also been confirmed.
Schalke host Dortmund on Matchday 12 (4-6 December), with the return fixture at Signal Iduna Park set for Matchday 29 (9-11 April 2027).
The remaining fixtures for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season will be announced later on Thursday.
