With Bayern Munich having a fully fit squad, the German champions now face a “luxury problem.”

Board member for sport Max Eberl used that exact term when explaining why Minjae Kim wasn't included in the squad for Sunday’s 5-1 Bundesliga win over Hoffenheim.

“This won’t necessarily be the decision for the next few games,” Eberl told reporters when asked about Kim's absence.

“There will also be some rotation if everyone stays healthy. But first and foremost, it shows that we have everyone fit, and that even established players might sometimes miss out.”

As Eberl explained, head coach Vincent Kompany can now tailor his squad to the opponent.

“It’s always about squad composition. What do you want to do in the game? What do you want to have? What might you need on the pitch?” Eberl said.

“Today we effectively sacrificed a defender because we still had ‘Konny’ [Laimer], and Hiroki [Ito] can also play centre-back."

Time will tell if Minjae Kim will return to the squad when Bayern face RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
