Mainz will have to do without Norwegian central defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen for several weeks due to a broken toe. The Rheinhessen club confirmed this news shortly before kickoff against visiting RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon. Hanche-Olsen was expected to fill in for the suspended Dominik Kohr in central defense in the match-day seven encounter.

The Norwegian national team defender missed practically the entire first half of last season after undergoing ankle surgery. He returned to assume a regular role in head-coach Bo Henriksen's starting XI, playing a pivotal role in helping the club avoid relegation. Thus far this year, Hanche-Olsen started four of Mainz's six league fixtures. The 27-year-old garnered an assist in round two's draw with Stuttgart.
