Bayern Munich and Aleksandar Pavlović got off to a hot start this season. The midfielder scored Bayern's fourth of five goals as Vincent Kompany's side beat VfB Stuttgart 5-1 at the Allianz Arena. However, the game was close for a long time.
“We gave everything from start to finish. Against Stuttgart, they often fade a bit in the second half and don't have as much energy left," said Pavlović. "That was the case again today."
Bayern went ahead in the first half, but Stuttgart pulled one back in the 52nd minute. Sure enough, the Swabians quickly faded in the second half, conceding four straight goals at the end as Bayern ran away comfortable winners.
“We kept going, didn't give up, and scored our goals," said Pavlović. "Of course, it's a fantastic feeling to be able to celebrate with the fans again after such a long time.”
The academy graduate has been a fan favorite since his introduction to the team in 2023. Last season, he was a key player for Kompany's side, making 49 appearances in all competitions as Bayern won the Bundesliga.
Pavlović was able to get on the scoresheet against Stuttgart, with Ismael Saibari selflessly passing across the face of the goal to give the 22-year-old the easy finish. It marked Pavlović's first goal since April when he scored the opener in a 4-3 win over Real Madrid.
“For my goal, I was running alongside the defense, Ismael Saibari saw me and made a great assist,” said Pavlović. "I'm very happy about my goal.”
