Despite a rather dismal start to the Bundesliga season, Hamburger SV are set to keep faith and extend the contract of Merlin Polzin.

According to a report in BILD, the head coach, along with his assistants Loïc Favé and Richard Krohn, will pen new deals at the Hanseatic club.

An agreement is expected will be reached before Saturday's match against 1.FC Köln, with announcement to follow no later than Friday.

“The initial getting-to-know-you process is complete. We're basically in agreement,” club CEO Kathleen Krüger said last weekend.

"There are just a few details and processes we still need to finalize," she added, suggesting that an extension with Polzin was imminent.

However as the report continues, alongside signing the new contracts, fortunes must improve under Polzin at HSV.

The coaching team should therefore get HSV back on track as quickly as possible so that the collaboration continues beyond this season.
