Kompany confirms Sané will be in Bayern's squad to face Kiel

After fighting his way back from an injury, Leroy Sané will be in Bayern Munich's squad to face Holstein Kiel, Vincent Kompany has confirmed.

Leroy Sané will be included in Bayern Munich's squad for the first time this season, when the Bavarians face Holstein Kiel away from home on Saturday.

The German international underwent groin surgery following Euro 2024 and has since worked his way back to full fitness.

“We have a lot of players and need all of them. Aside from the long-term injured, all the players are fit. We've got a week with three matches coming up and we're looking forward to it. Leroy will also be in the squad,” Kompany said at the pre-match press conference and added about Sané:

“He had a really good first half of last season and was involved in a lot of goals. In the early part of this year, he had constant battles with injuries and pain, but he battled through and played through it. I saw him as a real fighter there. The nice thing now is that he's pain-free. We're glad he's back and properly fit.”

With Bayern playing their first Champions League game of the season against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday, Kompany might want to start about rotating in the weeks to come. For now, however, he's not looking too far ahead.

“Every player is a candidate for the starting line-up at FC Bayern. At the moment it's not about rotation, but about the game against Kiel. We have a lot of games now and it's important that every player is ready to be called on,” said Kompany.
