Vincent Kompany has given Jonas Urbig his backing after Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann voiced doubts about the goalkeeper's ability.
The legendary goalkeeper duo spoke on a Sky talk show yesterday queried whether Urbig “has what it takes” to become Bayern's first choice.
“I cannot always assess what's being said on talk shows," said Kompany, amid his press conference for Saturday RB Leipzig meeting.
"We always have a plan [for his development] and try to stick to it. It’s great for us that Jonas is part of the conversation.
"We’ve developed this situation step by step since he arrived from Köln. We’ve allowed things to develop gradually.
"Manuel Neuer is a huge part of this whole story [regarding Urbig]; none of it would be possible without him.
“We have a good setup, and many clubs would love to be in our position,” said the Belgian, evidently supporting the 23-year-old talent.
