Masovic signs new Bochum deal

VfL Bochum confirmed a new contract extension for Serbian central defender Erhan Masovic on Monday afternoon. 
Linked with a move away from the Revierklub this summer, 24-year-old central defender Erhan Masovic has instead affirmed a longer term commitment with VfL Bochum. The three-times-capped Serbian international has seen his estimated market worth rise to €8 million since joining Bochum on a free From Club Brugge in October of 2020.

Masovic - who has played every minute of all five fixtures across all competitions for head-coach Thomas Letsch this season - has scored an impressive four goals in his 53 Bundesliga appearances over the past three seasons in the top flight. A new deal good through 2026 will surely see him earn a pay raise. The extension adds an extra year to his working papers.

"Erhan's development from a squad player in the 2. Bundesliga to a top performer in our Bundesliga team is remarkable," VfL sporting director Marc Lettau noted in a statement, "Erhan has developed into a regular starter and has matured into a national player at VfL. We're convinced that he can has even greater potential."

"Many things have bee made possible for me here," the player himself added, "Through VfL I became a Bundesliga player, which had a positive influence on my national team career. I want to continue to help us achieve our goals, which this season is once again to stay in the league."
