RB Leipzig vs. Crvena Zvezda preview: Team news and predicted lineups
Here is our preview of Wednesday's Champions League group stage clash between RB Leipzig and Crvena Zvezda, including predicted lineups.
A three-game winless streak came to an end for RB Leipzig on Saturday, but Marco Rose's side had to fight hard to defeat Bundesliga newcomers Darmstadt 3-1 in a match in which Lois Openda scored a brace.
Veteran Emil Forsberg, who also got on the scoresheet, was keen to point out that there is room for improvement ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Crvena Zvezda.
"It was definitely a hard-earned victory. I don’t think we played well in a lot of aspects of our game today. We can definitely work on our build-up play, for instance," he was quoted as saying by the club.
A win over the Serbian champions would certainly put Leipzig in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages, with the Roten Bullen sitting second in Group G, three points behind leaders Manchester City and two points clear of Young Boys and Wednesday's opponents.
Willi Orban remains the only absentee for Marco Rose's side, who welcomed back Benjamin Henrichs and Dani Olmo from injury against Darmstadt. However, Olmo only came on for 10 minutes towards the end of the game and probably isn't ready to start yet.
Crvena Zvezda, who haven't lost since their 3-1 defeat at Manchester City on September 19, have no new injury concerns.
