Alex Nübel to be back in goal for Schalke on Friday

Alexander Nübel is expected to return to Schalke 04's starting eleven for Friday's Bundesliga clash with Hertha BSC.
Alexander Nübel will be back in goal for Schalke 04 when David Wagner's side face Hertha BSC away from home in the Bundesliga on Friday, according to corresponding reports from Bild, Sport1 and Kicker.

Nübel was stripped of his captaincy and has seen his position as the club's first-choice goalkeeper questioned following the announcement that he will be joining Bayern München at the end of the season.

And speaking after Schalke's 5-0 loss to Bayern München last week, head coach David Wagner wouldn't rule out that he could keep faith in Markus Schubert who has been playing while Nübel has been sidelined due to a four-match ban.

But Nübel will definitely be back in the starting eleven for Friday's game as Schubert has picked up an injury which could reportedly keep him out for at least 10 days.

According to a report from Kicker, Nübel would probably play on Friday even if Schubert wasn't injured as Wagner is set to keep the future Bayern player as his first-choice goalkeeper for the rest of the season.

The report claims that Wagner is leaning towards Nübel, because he's two years older than Schubert and has more experience. The 23-year-old has a strong presence and looks more confident and mentally strong on the pitch than his competitor.
