Schalke 04 would like to extend the deals of Daniel Caligiuri and Benjamin Stambouli, who are both out of contract at the end of the season.

"Basically, Daniel and 'Benji' are two highly appreciated players, whom we would like to see at Schalke beyond the summer," said Schalke head of sport Jochen Schneider in an interview with Kicker.

"Of course, we had already held talks before the corona crisis. We have agreed that we will put these talks back on the agenda when we can move forward with concrete plans for the new season," he said.

Caligiuri, 32, has made 22 appearances for Schalke this season, racking up three goals and four assists.

Stambouli has been limited to just 10 games this season as the 29-year-old has been sidelined with a foot injury since the end of October.
