Hansi Flick is said to be interested in bringing Mario Götze back to Bayern München, where the 28-year-old played from 2013 to 2016.

Götze, who has been searching for a new club since he left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, received a call from the Bayern coach last week, according to Sport Bild.

The two know each other from the German national team, where Flick used to work as an assistant for head coach Joachim Löw.

"I have been in contact with Hansi since I began playing for the national team. We have had a very good relationship with each other ever since and are regularly in talks. He has an incredible amount of experience and is a good advisor," said Götze last week.

According to the report, Flick is now looking into the possibility of snapping up the 28-year-old free agent, but the club bosses aren't too keen on the idea as they fear the pressure from the media that would come with the signing of a big name like Götze, especially considering he would be brought in as a back-up.

Bayern paid €37 million to sign the 28-year-old attacking midfielder from Borussia Dortmund in 2013. He went on to make 114 appearances for the Bavarians, racking up 36 goals and 24 assists, before re-joining Dortmund after three seasons.
