With Niclas Füllkrug out through injury, Deniz Undav was given the chance up front for Germany against the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday.
And the VfB Stuttgart striker didn't disappoint, scoring the opening goal before providing the assist for Germany's second in a 2-2 draw.
After the game, the 28-year-old was brimming with pride at having scored his first goal in a Germany shirt.
“I scored my first goal, I'm sure my family are very happy and proud. And then against the Netherlands of all teams... I'm over the moon,” he said.
"I didn't put any pressure on myself before the game and I wasn't nervous. I just wanted to get into the game and score - and I did. I always try to have fun and get people on board.
“We're still a bit away from being the best in the world, but the chemistry is great and we're going in the right direction. We're not far away from achieving something big,” said Undav.
