In an interview with TZ München, 2010 World Cup winner David Silva sung the praises of former teammate and current Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany.

“Even back when he was a player, you could tell he wanted to be a coach," said the 40-year-old who played 232 games with Kompany during their time at Manchester City.

"He analyzes everything very precisely, has a way of communicating with the players, and is doing an outstanding job overall. He's definitely a contender for the Champions League title.

"I'm very happy for him. He has everything under control, he thinks deeply about things, and works incredibly hard. Vincent always had the makings of a coach.

"Now he's landed at a club like Bayern, which is used to winning – an ideal combination. He's young, hungry, and pays attention to every detail. At the same time, he instills confidence in his players.

“You can see that in the fact that everyone is pulling in the same direction. Bayern's results and this desire to always want to top them are a very strong trademark of his,” Silva added.
