Florian Wirtz harboured feelings of frustration after Germany were forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate with Greece this evening.
“We put a lot of pressure on, but didn't score the damn goal. That's annoying," Wirtz said in his post-match interview with RTL.
"Overall, we can be satisfied with how we played – there were a lot of good things. We mustn't forget that we've only been together for a week.
“We really wanted the win, we didn't – but of course, not everything was bad,” the 23-year-old Liverpool star concluded.
Arguably Germany's most impressive attacker on the night, Derry Scherhant, took a moment to reflect on earning his second senior cap.
“Playing for the German national team is a dream come true for me. I enjoyed it a lot, I tried to show myself and not to hide.
"Everything happened quickly for me. When I see where I was 5 years ago, and now I'm with the national team, I still have to process it," he told RTL.
