Former German international Ridle Baku's transfer to RB Leipzig should - per Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid - be completed soon. Sport Bild reports that Wolfsburg and Leipzig are not far apart on the asking price in their negotiations. Wolfsburg seek €4 million for their player. The German Red Bulls wish to pay approximately €1.5 million less, but remain likely to come to an agreement soon.
Wolfsburg manager Peter Christiansen's preferred replacement for Baku will almost certainly cost a great deal more. Cub Brugge reportedly want approximately €15 million for Danish international Andreas Skov Olsen. The financial means of Germany's green company team nevertheless render such a purchase possible. Skov could serve alongside Danish compatriots Jonas Wind and Joakim Maehle.
German footballing journalist Thomas Hiete - embedded with Wolfsburg's training camp in Almancil, Portugal - has managed to elicit comment from one of Skov Olsen's former teammates. According to Hiete, Baku politely smiles whenever questioned about the transfer rumors. Former FC Bologna man Mattias Svanberg played alongside the Dane for two-and-a-half years in the Serie A.
"Yes, I think so" Svanberg glibly told Hiete when asked if Skov Olsen could work as an impactful reinforcement for the Autostädter, "He's a friend and a great player; attack-minded and fast with a good left foot."
