Hertha BSC consolidated their position at the top of 2. Bundesliga with a big win at the in-form Kaiserslautern. Sebastian Grönning scored a brace as the hosts conceded the first three goals at Fritz Walter Stadion this season.
The Danish striker ended his goal drought as he was on the scoresheet for the first time since netting in the first two opening rounds. The 29-year-old scored the only goal of the first-half with the assist coming from the captain Jon Thorsteinsson.
Summer signing from Augsburg, Mads Pedersen continued his excellent form as he set up Grönning and Austrian youth international Oluwaseun Adewumi for close range finishes in the space of seven second-half minutes.
Apart from the goalless draw at Kiel, Stefan Leitl's side have won every game so far in 2. Bundesliga. Miroslav Klose's Nürnberg can now open a gap with Kaiserslautern, who have only scored nine goals despite their high position in the table.
