Xabi Alonso’s potential move to Real Madrid is starting to look more and more likely, as the future of current manager Carlo Ancelotti remains up in the air, as reported by Kicker.

The former Real Madrid star, now managing Bayer Leverkusen, has long been linked with the head coach role at the Spanish giants, and recent developments suggest the door could soon be open for him.

Alonso, who has done an impressive job in Germany, has said that he wouldn’t make any decisions about his future until the season is over. However, with the uncertainty surrounding Ancelotti’s position, many are now wondering if Alonso’s moment is finally approaching.

There’s growing speculation that talks between Real Madrid and the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) could speed up the process. The CBF is reportedly keen on bringing Ancelotti in as their new national team coach. If they reach an agreement, it could allow the Italian to exit Madrid sooner rather than later, making way for a potential change at the top.

Should Ancelotti head to Brazil, it would open up the managerial position at Real Madrid, and Alonso could be next in line. Some reports even suggest that Ancelotti could leave as soon as next week, moving things along faster than many expected.

While Real Madrid still has a slim chance of winning La Liga with five games left, including a crucial clash with Barcelona on May 11th, Alonso’s potential appointment continues to grab the headlines.

If everything falls into place, fans could soon see their former star in the manager’s seat at the Santiago Bernabéu.
