Since his move to Bayer 04 Leverkusen from Benfica in 2023, Alex Grimaldo has been consistently linked with a return to his native country, Spain.

The 30-year-old has previously stated that he would like to play in Spain before the end of his career – and he may get the opportunity to do so next season.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the left-back is one of FC Barcelona’s top targets for the summer transfer window.

With Grimaldo having just one year left on his contract, Leverkusen could look to cash in if the La Liga giants express concrete interest at the end of the season.

It is reported that a deal could be completed for just under €15 million.

Grimaldo has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 38 games in all competitions so far this season.
