Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash with FC Augsburg on Saturday, board member for sport Max Eberl outlined the club’s ambition to extend Michael Olise’s contract beyond 2029.
Eberl confirmed that while Bayern are keen to tie the Frenchman down to a new long-term deal, talks have yet to begin.
“Our desire is clear. We would like to continue working with Michael for a long time, ideally extending his contract beyond 2029,” Eberl told DAZN, praising Olise as a “world-class player who is still far from reaching his peak”.
“To be honest, there have not been any talks at all yet. What is being discussed around us has not actually materialised,” he added.
While Bayern’s intention to keep Olise is “absolutely clear”, Eberl acknowledged that the decision does not rest solely with the club.
“That’s our wish, but there is a third party involved as well,” he said.
Olise was linked with a move to Real Madrid over the summer but ultimately stayed at Bayern, who consistently maintained that the Frenchman wasn't for sale.
