The nominees for the Ballon d’Or Men’s and Women’s Club of the Year awards were announced on Tuesday, with Bayern Munich nominated in both categories.

In the men’s category, German double winners FC Bayern face competition from 2025/26 Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and finalists Arsenal.

Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, arguably the biggest surprise package of last season’s Champions League, have also been nominated, along with Brazilian club Flamengo, who won the CONMEBOL Libertadores.

Explaining Bayern’s nomination, the Ballon d’Or website wrote:

"Bayern Munich’s nomination for the Men’s Club of the Year award at the ‘Ballon d'Or’ gala confirms the German giants’ spectacular return to the very top of the footballing world.

"Following a period of adjustment, the Bavarian club once again displayed that ruthless and dominant form that strikes fear into the hearts of Europe, underpinned by a voracious appetite for goals and an unrelenting determination at the most crucial moments of the season.

With a revamped attacking approach that tore through opposition defences both domestically and in European competition, the German side delivered a year of superlative performances."

In the Women’s category, Bayern face competition from Barcelona, Club América, Manchester City and OL Lyonnes.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26.
