Despite persistent rumours linking Olise with a move away from Munich, the France international remains under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2029. Having impressed since arriving from Crystal Palace, the 24-year-old has established himself as one of Bayern’s key attacking players.
“FC Bayern is a club that doesn’t need to sell. We make our decisions from a position of strength. Michael Olise still has a contract with us until 2029. I hope and wish that he will extend it at some point,” Hainer said on Bild TV.
The Bayern president also made it clear that the club would be prepared to resist any attempts to prise Olise away next summer.
“Regardless of whether it’s Real Madrid or whoever else makes a move, we know how to defend ourselves well. FC Bayern has a lot to offer,” Hainer added.
Real Madrid are currently regarded as the winger’s most prominent admirers, with reports linking the Spanish giants with a move for Olise having circulated throughout the summer. Some speculation has suggested that a potential transfer could command a fee in excess of €200 million.
Bayern keen to secure Olise’s long-term future
With interest in the Frenchman showing little sign of disappearing, extending his contract is reportedly a priority for Bayern. According to Bild, the club made initial approaches over a possible renewal a year ago.
However, sporting director Max Eberl revealed on Saturday that no concrete negotiations have taken place so far.
Nevertheless, Hainer remains confident that Bayern’s sporting ambitions and financial position put them in a strong position to retain the winger. The club president believes the opportunity to compete for major honours in Munich is another significant factor in convincing players to stay.
Hainer also suggested that Olise has settled well since making the move to Germany.
“He feels very comfortable here in Munich,” Hainer said. “When he first came to us, only insiders knew him. Now the whole football world knows him.”
The Bayern president is also backing Olise to remain at the very top of the game, expressing his belief that the winger could one day claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
“I’m convinced he’ll win the Ballon d’Or one day – maybe even this year,” Hainer predicted.
