Player and manager salaries always give a good insight into how much a player/manager is being valued by his own club. While the numbers usually reflect on their standing internally, sometimes you're able to find a surprise, especially in comparison to others in their field.

French news portal L'Équipe has reported on the top salaries for coaches in the Bundesliga. While some may expect to see the “unbeatable” Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen) topping the list, it is actually a Bundesliga “rookie”: Vincent Kompany (FC Bayern).

Alonso, however, follows the former Burnley coach in 2nd place; RB Leipzig's Marco Rose completes the podium in 3rd. The most surprising aspect in this list is the gap between the coaches: Kompany reportedly earns almost double the amount of Alonso!

Check the full list (from L'Équipe) down below:

Bundesliga coach salaries [gross, per month]:

  1. Vincent Kompany (FC Bayern): €750.000
  2. Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen): €425.000
  3. Marco Rose (RB Leipzig): €375.000
