Luis Díaz hopes FC Bayern could improve from last season’s level as they start the Champions League campaign as one of the favorites. The 29-year-old Colombian discussed his goals for the campaign in an exclusive interview with DFL (Bundesliga).
“Having that mentality of always wanting more, not just being content, is necessary,” Díaz told Bundesliga. “What happened has happened. We had a great season, but if you don’t back that up in the same way or even better, I think it ends up being a forgotten year, and we won’t do anything.
“It’s clear for us that we have to go for every title we can. We should go for all of it. We have to work for that, but take things one step at a time. I know we’re going to have a great season and hopefully surpass last season.”
As always, Borussia Dortmund are the team expected to rival Vincent Kompany’s men in the Bundesliga title race. “We know they’re very tough opponents. Dortmund are Dortmund. We’ve got to be alert, and remain calm.”
FC Bayern will host Borussia Dortmund on matchday 8 in a fixture that could give pointers to where the Meisterschale heads at the end of the season. The Bavarians beat the Black and Yellows away from home in the season’s curtain-raiser, the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
“We’ve got to pick up three points against Dortmund because it’s going to be really important in the course of the league. These match-ups can determine the title.” Díaz concluded regarding the title race.
