Dip in form leaves concerns for Bayern bosses regarding Luis Díaz

According to SPORT1, Luis Díaz's poor vein of form is believed to be a topic of discussion internally at FC Bayern Munich.

Following the 0-0 draw at FC Schalke 04, some discontent crept into management's heads, although this was not directed solely at Díaz.

As a result, Vincent Kompany placed Díaz on the bench against SV Elversberg, whom they eventually defeated 2-1 yesterday.

It's believed the thinking behind his decision is that Díaz would make a big impact, but this measure failed to produce it's desired effect. 

The winger, subbed on with the game still in the melting pot, carelessly squandered a great chance where he could have set up Harry Kane.

What's positive for the 29-year-old is that Kompany sees no reason to fundamentally doubt his marquee left-sided attacker.

“It's all about finishing. His energy consistently creates danger,” the Bayern head coach said after Sunday's win in the Saarland. 

"You have to create those chances, and he does that time and again with his deep runs and his activity," he explained.

Added to this is the heavy workload – Díaz has effectively played non-stop for the last 22 months, including at the 2026 World Cup.

Now, during the upcoming international break, Díaz and Colombia are set to play two matches in the USA and visit Australia in November. 

With long journeys, jet lag and additional games, SPORT1 is speculating that a longer break for Díaz could therefore be on the table.
